About Emma

Emma Vigrass is a vibrant and spirited young girl from Charleston, SC. She was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE) at the age of one year old and started a journey that brought her to writing this book. She decided that she wanted to help other friends, both those who struggle with allergy and disease management or simply friends who don’t always feel like others, to feel strong in their beliefs and brave in their actions.

As you can imagine, Emma dreams big and plays hard. She has a little sister she adores, and she loves to swim, play with friends, practice gymnastics and spend time outside. Reading is a big part of Emma’s family life, and her mom and dad have always encouraged her to be bold and try new things.

Emma hopes that this book can be a useful tool to explain her disease to her new friends at school while educating her community at the same time. We hope this book shares a glimpse of the joy that is Emma: a girl who has met every new challenge with a smile and a can-do attitude.
